大規模言語モデルはどう学ぶのか

How large language models learn

大規模言語モデルの学習は二段階です。まずインターネット上のテキストで事前学習し、次に役立つアシスタントへと微調整します。

Large language models are trained in two stages: pre-training on internet text, then fine-tuning into a helpful assistant.

最初に `npm install` を一度実行し、読んでいる間は開発サーバーを起動したままにします。

Run `npm install` once, then keep the dev server open while you read.

  • Side by side, or translation only

Translations sit under every paragraph, or switch to translation only. Pick from four translation styles.

  • Keeps the page's layout

Bold text, links, and inline code stay as they are. Buttons, tables, iframes, and Shadow DOM text get translated too.

  • One click, and it remembers your sites

Toggle it from the floating button, a shortcut, or the right-click menu. Sites you keep translated stay translated next time.

  • Lumi AI translation with Pro

Free Microsoft and Google engines work out of the box. Pro members get context-aware Lumi AI translation in multiple languages, or bring your own API key.

Questions & answers

When should I use side-by-side bilingual mode versus translation-only mode?
Side-by-side bilingual mode places the translation directly beneath each source paragraph, making it ideal for technical documentation, API references, research blogs, and language learning where you want to cross-check exact terminology and code references. Switch to translation-only mode when you want a clean, single-language layout for rapid skimming. Lumi operates directly on accessible HTML DOM paragraphs; if a heavily scripted web app ever styles a block unexpectedly, you can toggle translation off in one click.
Can I reuse the DeepSeek, OpenAI, or Claude API key I already configured for video subtitles?
Yes. Any text-model provider you configure in extension settings — including DeepSeek, OpenAI-compatible endpoints, and Anthropic Claude — is shared across subtitle translation, video summaries, and web page translation. Simply select your BYOK provider in the page translation panel and confirm your model and target language. BYOK requests consume 0 Lumi Tokens and are billed directly by your provider; API keys remain stored locally in your browser extension and are never uploaded during preference sync.
How does Lumi handle long articles? Does it send the entire web page in a single request?
No. Lumi filters out navigation chrome, extracts readable content paragraphs, and dispatches them in concurrent batches using a prompt tailored for web layout preservation. If a provider throttles requests or encounters a transient network error, automatic backoff and retry ensure translations fill in progressively as you read. Because translated paragraph text is sent to your chosen translation engine or LLM provider, avoid enabling page translation on private intranet pages containing secrets or sensitive personal data.
How do the free engines, managed Lumi AI, and BYOK differ for page translation?
All users can translate web pages for free using the built-in Microsoft and Google engines, or by connecting their own BYOK API key at 0 Lumi Token cost. Managed Lumi AI page translation is an exclusive Pro membership benefit (not included in the 7-day Lite Pro trial) that delivers context-aware LLM translation across Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean, metered by actual model Tokens. Note that Lumi focuses on HTML web pages; for PDF formula layout preservation, EPUB books, or comic OCR, use a dedicated document tool.
